Q&A: Why is it difficult talking to girls?

Question by Doctorv21: Why is it difficult talking to girls?
Sometimes, I have difficulty talking to girls and I don’t know how to please them correctly when it comes down to conversation. I’m always afraid of saying the wrong thing and the girl won’t like me because I said it and made her mad. Sometimes, it can be difficult because I think alot about science and sometimes bring it into our relationship too much. I mean I’m trying to get my Ph.D. in Immunology. I just need a balance in my life. Any good advice?

Hey, I’m in the Sciences too! Good luck with your Ph.D. (but you probably won’t need any luck =D ).

Anyway, I know it sounds corny, but be yourself. Unless you and the girl are polar opposites on important topics to the both of you, you don’t need to worry about saying the wrong thing. (Although, in that case, you probably don’t want to go out with that girl because they’ll always be tension).

Depending on the academic background of the girl, talking about science topics doesn’t have to be a bad thing. If you’re worried about talking too much about science, how about talking about other non-science topics? Books, movies, places you want to travel after you get your Ph.D., politics, religion, current news, etc. Find a topic you both are interested in, so one doesn’t dominate the conversation.
