I think it should be equal, whether you’re a guy or girl I don’t think that should contribute to who texts first. It also depends on prefrence, some people like texting first and some prefer not to. How you can decide on when to text first, consider who usually texts first, who usually ends the conversation, how often does each person text first, etc.
Because after a while, it can get old and boring to a person to always text first and like I said it should be equal effort
